Experience Yarra Valley Eat & Drink
Five Unique Yarra Valley Dining Experiences
The Yarra Valley is renowned as the birthplace of Victorian wine, but there is also a fabulous food scene just waiting to be discovered after dark. From family-friendly to a romantic night out for two; whether you are seeking classic comfort food or more refined dishes that will have your taste buds salivating, here are some of our favourite places for an evening out when staying with us. The Yarra Valley Grand Hotel is our go-to-place when travelling with kids or wanting classic ‘pub style’ food in a relaxed environment. Built in 1888, this landmark historical hotel is classified with the National Trust. Offering casual bistro dining with indoor and outdoor spaces, the menu offers something for everyone – with local Yarra Valley producers well-showcased. And did we mention there’s a kid’s playground ready for exploring. Open for dinner nightly from 5.00pm with their pizzeria, Herb’s Pizza, open Thursday to Sunday from 5.00pm.
Elevate your dining experience and book a table at the nearby Meletos Café – located within a beautifully restored farmhouse. Surrounded by apple orchards and rolling hills, you will experience a seasonal two or three-course dinner menu that highlights the region’s abundance of food artisans, complemented by a selection of amazing Yarra Valley produced wines. Evening dining at Meletos has got even better with Tuesday Pizza Night and Thursdays are for pasta. Open for dinner nightly from 6.00pm with bookings essential.
For weekend guests, another Yarra Valley favourite can be found at Rochford Winery. Il Vigneto Pizzaria is delivering an authentic, local, dining experience. Nestled amongst the Pinot Noir vines, guests can enjoy the best pizza and pasta whilst drinking wines from their Rochford and Toolangi vineyards. Open for dinner Friday and Saturday evenings.
Provenance is very important to The Eastern Golf Club’s Head Chef, Brian Elliott, who has a philosophy of presenting dishes that showcase the best available seasonal produce, that has been grown by food producers he knows personally and, where possible, is locally sourced. Yering Gorge Cottages' guests can dine in the relaxed environment of our Members' Pavilion – which is perfect for couples and families – on Friday evenings during the warmer months.
Or, if you have overindulged in one of the many restaurants or wineries that can be explored by day, and want a relaxing night in – whether in front of a freshly lit fire, or whilst lounging on the private deck of your cottage as the sun sets and kangaroo’s graze – our Hamper Menu, which will recommence very soon, offers a selection of hampers and boards for you to order from; and your mini bar opens the door to the bounty of local wineries, brewers and food producers that we are so fortunate to enjoy right on our doorstep.
